8 New Features on Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge Android 5.1.1Update, What are these?

The Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge has now started getting its Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. It has been released first in the U.S but will be available worldwide this forthcoming months and will then going to replace the Android 5.0.2.  Once your Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge gets the Android 5.1.1 Update, there some new features and minor significant changes to take effect along with it. What are these features?  Below are the 8 newest features which now can be found on Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.

1. Anti-theft, Factory Reset Protection (FRP)


There is also a Factory Reset Protection (FRP) added on Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Android 5.1.1 Update.  This option called factory reset protection is an Anti-theft feature, which, when enabled, prevents a phone from being factory reset without the owner's Google password. The pictures below is a T-Mobile Galaxy S6 that tells that it has a Factory Reset Protection (FRP). This feature which tries to make it harder for thieves to get absolute value out of their stolen phones.

2. OEM unlocking


The “Allow OEM unlock” is now added and can be seen when toggling in the Developer Options. Though some major U.S carriers have a locked down OEM on their own purposed.  But those who bought their Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge without a locked "bootloader" might get confused why it now added on latest Android 5.1.1  update. According to XDA-developers, this is, indeed, not a traditionally locked-down bootloader but an option for the user that can be used for.

3. Exposure Slider in Camera

The Galaxy S6 Android 5.1 update  also brings with it an exposure slider when you open the camera app and tap on the subject. The  Exposure Slider functionality allows users to adjust the preferred level of brightness in the final image. By sliding the small light bulb icon increases or decreases the exposure level of the focus point. This exposure control slider is very similar to the one found on the latest iPhone.


4. Quick Connect And S Finder is added with an option to remove in the notification shade 


In Android 5.1.1 Update it has the ability to remove Quick Connect and S Finder from the notification shade.  This feature will now allow the Galaxy S6 users to manage the Quick Connect and S Finder to choose which particular apps that users might want to see and do not want to see it beforehand. To remove an apps just access the  Quick Connect and S Finder in the notification shade, then simply tap on “edit” and remove the ticks from the boxes.


5. A-Z button for Alphabetizing App Icons 


There is now has the A-Z button that  lets you organize the apps alphabetically. This feature has had been found even before on Android 5.0.2 but only on the U.S. version of Galaxy S6 and not on international version.  In Android 5.1.1 the update you will see this A-Z button at the upper right corner of the apps drawer.  When you download a new apps, the home screen should still keep all of the apps alphabetized.  Just open the quick settings option in the notification shade and tap on “Edit".

6. Guest Mode


The Guest mode is now also built-in on Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Android 5.1.1 update. This feature allows the single device to be used by multiple users at a time. This feature let each user to have his/her own personal space, with an option to install their own apps, personalize their home screen and settings.  The feature also  prevents other people from seeing the stored messages, apps, photos and settings.

7. Notification Tray


A new notification tray feature let users to  save the incoming notifications.  This works once a user receive a notification  and it stays locked in the notification tray when swipe up.  Then swiping left or right, then it is dismissed the notifications.  This settings can be found in “sound and notification” .

8. Parallax Wallpaper Effect


A new parallax wallpaper effect has also been added in Android 5.1.1 update. This feature adds significant changes the wallpaper and icons that brings a live wallpaper in 3D effect alike. Some Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge user did not like this feature, but well of-course it can be disabled in settings.
