How To Flash Galaxy S6 Edge Stock Firmware

  • Backup all stored data in the device.  Though the process will not eventually delete the stored data but we are about to touch the inner system of the phone which is crucial on some part.  If anything might go wrong and it forces you to perform a full wipe factory reset your data will be wiped out. So to make all important data safe, don’t be lazy to make a backup in the first place.
  • Recharge your device battery –  A sudden power interruption will cause an undesired outcome.
  • Enable USB debugging mode – From Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Developer option. Then mark USB Debugging checkbox.
  • Turn off the “Reactivation Lock” . Some other Galaxy S6 version this feature is pre-installed.  To turn it Off just go to Settings > Security > Reactivation Lock and then unmark check the Reactivation lock option. You may need to enter your password on this process.
  • Use the supplied USB data cable of your Galaxy S6 edge.
  • Use Windows PC to this process as this will not work on MAC computers.
  • Extract the firmware file after downloaded so that you’ll get the  “Odin flashable” tarball stock firmware  file.
  • Grab Odin3_v3.10.6 and the latest USB.
    Download Odin3_v3.10.6

Procedures:

  1. Run Odin on your PC desktop
  2. Boot the Galaxy S3 into Odin download mode.
Turn it off, once completely shut down  hold down the ‘HOME’ + ‘VOLUME DOWN’ buttons and press the ‘POWER’ button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the ‘VOLUME UP’ button to continue or enter Download Mode.
  3. Connect the phone to PC via USB. Then make sure you can see as phone “Added” in Odin log box or highlight the COM: ID once the device is recognized.
  4. In Odin window, Do Not ever tick ‘Re-Partition’, just leave the ‘Auto Reboot’ and ‘F. Reset Time’ mark as checked.
  5. Click on Odin’s AP button then browse and load the tarball file.
    e.g. on Verizon Galaxy S6 edge SM-G925V:
    “G925VVRU4BOK7_G925VVZW4BOK7_G925VVRU4BOK7HOME.tar.md5
  6. Click the “Start” button to flash the stock firmware.
  7. Wait until the flashing successfully finishes, you’ll just see a word ‘PASS’ in Odin.

Troubleshooting:

1. Odin “Fail!” instead of getting Pass!
Check everything from the USB driver to the USB data cable. Sometimes you need to repeat this process one more time if you get fail as it depends on how your Galaxy S6 came as being rooted and modified.

2:  Ended up into  bootloop and stuck on welcome screen logo.
You may  necessarily perform the Full Wipe/Factory Data Reset on your Galaxy S6. This oftentimes happens if your Galaxy S6 Edge has loads of modified system images.
  • Turn off the phone and set it into recovery mode.
  • Press and hold Volume up, home and power buttons.
  • Once in recovery mode, perform full wipe
    Select ‘wipe data/factory reset’
  • Lastly select ‘reboot system’ now and wait ’til your phone completely reboot in normal mode.
